Beautiful original print of the Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), finely detailed and enhanced with contemporary hand colouring on laid (verge) paper. This antique print originates from "Nederlandsche Vogelen"(English: Dutch birds), a bird book by Cornelius Nozeman and Christiaan Sepp, published in five volumes between 1770 and 1829. It is the first original Dutch book on birds and one of the most expensive, extensive, and longest-running works in the history of Dutch printing. The intention was to represent the birds as accurately to their actual size as possible. Not dated, date is an estimate.
